Annotation

West Side Story Suite, for violin & orchestra (after Bernstein)
This is an arrangement for violin and orchestra of selected songs from Bernstein's West Side Story, and is about 19mins long. It is a single continuous movement, and there are no "parts" to this suite as the songs from the musical in whole or in part seamlessly interweave into one another throughout, but this is just an indication of the recognizable markers:
00 opens with excerpts of several songs from WSS
42 "Dance at the Gym: Mambo" (very briefly)
00 "Prologue"
50 "I Have a Love"
28 "Something's Coming"
25 "Tonight Quintet"
08 "I Feel Pretty" (till the only well-defined break in this entire suite, at 5:25)
27 "Maria" (excerpted recording here)
05 "Tonight"
30 "One Hand, One Heart"
08 "Tonight"
.43 "Scherzo and Ballet Sequence"
17 "America" (till 13:43, followed by extended violin cadenza) until…
40 "Somewhere", until 18:03
03 reprise of several of the above in quick succession till end of suite.
