"The Primitive Sounds of Tak Shindo"
MGANGA means Medicine Man in darkest Africa, and here, in mood and timbre, is Africa. The drums, rhythms, rituals and dances are woven into a fascinating and provocative musical fidelity safari into the mysteries of the dark continent. The Mganga is the most feared, and at the same time, revered member of African society. A shake of his rattle, a soulful entreaty to the Gods or a mournful incantation can wield unbelievable power over the inhabitants of the bush.
The MOMBASA LOVE SONG opens with a stirring roll of native drums...the haunting love theme stated by flutes and repeated by the orchestra and chorus in ever-increasing waves of sound and intensity.
Inside the HUTS OF KICHWAMBA, the natives are stirring to the morning sounds of the birds of the jungle. Soon, the Kookabura bird joins in, cawing in cadence with "Simba", the lion, mightiest of the jungle beasts, as he roars his acknowledgement of the new day.
