No Rome – “Hurry Home & Rest”
Number Line recording artist Rome Gomez (aka No Rome) has been making bedroom pop for several years now. And considering that he started out at such a young age, the maturity that’s present in his latest release “Hurry Home & Rest” is both welcome and unsurprising. No Rome is one of the best young producers around right now, and with “Hurry Home & Rest”, he has established himself as a musician with a clear artistic vision.
No Rome’s “Hurry Home & Rest” opens with the brilliantly catchy “Adore” with Rome showing off his pop sensibilities in a track that pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the record. No Rome switches things up with the tracks, “It’s Alright” and “Rest_less”. The songs are more introspective than the opening track, and are the most obvious examples of No Rome’s growth as a producer. The fourth track, “Go Home”, with its beautiful melodies and infectious beat, definitely shines as the record’s highlight and comes off as a more polished version of Gomez’s earlier work. The record also includes two remixes of the opening track that serve as perfect companion pieces to the rest of the record.
“Hurry Home & Rest” is clearly the work of a gifted young artist coming into his own. And just like some of the best pop records, “Hurry Home & Rest” is both short and sweet. It is an enjoyable record that warrants multiple listens.
